Our Core Commitment
We do not collect, receive, transmit, store, or have any access to your personal data. Ever.
This is not a legal formality — it is the fundamental design principle of The App. All data you enter lives exclusively on your device. We have no servers, no databases, no accounts, and no infrastructure capable of receiving your information, nor will we ever, nor will we want to.
We will never pollute the app with advertising, nor collect any data for re-sell or advertising purposes. The App will always remain a passion project.
The App was created by Steven Carson Booth (Carson), an individual software developer based in Berlin, Germany, operating under the GreyBeardGuy brand. The App began as a personal tinkering project after Carson noticed that Apple Fitness did not track certain common exercises such as push-ups, pull-ups, and sit-ups. What started as a small personal tool grew into a larger fitness tracking application designed to fill that gap and support a wider range of personal health and activity data.
The App is published and distributed as an independent application with no corporate backing, advertising partners, or third-party data relationships of any kind.
Data Controller (for GDPR purposes)
Carson Booth · Individual Developer — GreyBeardGuy · Berlin, Germany · TheGreyBeardGuy@icloud.com
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), a data controller is the person or entity that determines how personal data is processed. Because The App processes all data exclusively on your device and we never receive any data, our role as data controller is limited entirely to the design decisions embedded in the application itself.
To be explicit, The App does not collect, transmit, or have access to any of the following:
There are no analytics SDKs, tracking libraries, advertising networks, or third-party frameworks embedded in The App that could collect data on our behalf.
If you choose to contact us by email for support purposes, we will receive and temporarily retain the information contained in that email solely for the duration required to respond or address the request. This may include your name or email alias, your device or iOS version if you choose to include it, a description of the issue you are experiencing, and any enhancement or corrective action requested.
This information is used exclusively to respond to your support inquiry. It is not stored in any database, shared with any third party, or used for any purpose beyond resolving your request. Support emails are subject to the privacy practices of Apple's iCloud Mail service and are retained only for as long as necessary to address your request, after which they are deleted. You may request earlier deletion of any support correspondence by contacting us at TheGreyBeardGuy@icloud.com.
The App stores the following data locally on your iPhone using Apple's Core Data framework:
This data never leaves your device through The App. It is stored in your device's local storage and is subject to your device's own security, encryption, and backup settings.
The App can optionally connect to Apple HealthKit to import health and fitness data such as step counts, walking and running distance, cycling distance, swimming distance, body weight, and flights climbed.
Regarding HealthKit data:Apple's own HealthKit privacy terms apply to how Apple handles your health data within the Health app. The App's use of HealthKit complies with Apple's HealthKit developer guidelines, which prohibit using health data for advertising or selling to third parties.
If you have iCloud Backup enabled on your device, your App data may be included in your iCloud backup as part of your overall device backup. This is controlled entirely by Apple and your device settings. The App does not initiate, manage, or have access to iCloud backups. Please refer to Apple's iCloud Privacy Policy for information on how Apple handles backup data.
The App does not integrate with any third-party services, platforms, or APIs beyond Apple's own frameworks (Core Data, HealthKit, and SwiftUI). There are no:
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) grants EU residents specific rights regarding their personal data. Because The App does not collect or process your personal data on any server or system we control, most GDPR rights apply to data stored locally on your device, which is entirely under your control.
Right of AccessAll your App data is stored on your device and is directly accessible to you within the app.
Right to RectificationYou can edit or correct any data within The App at any time.
Right to ErasureYou can delete individual activities, all activities of a type, or all data by deleting The App from your device.
Right to Data PortabilityThe App includes a built-in Archive & Email feature that allows you to export your activity data as a JSON file to any email address you choose.
Right to ObjectSince we process no data on our end, there is nothing to object to. All processing occurs locally on your device.
Right to Lodge a ComplaintIf you believe your data rights have been violated, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority. In Germany, this is the Bundesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz und die Informationsfreiheit (BfDI) at www.bfdi.bund.de.
For users in the United States, including residents of California (CCPA/CPRA), Virginia (VCDPA), Colorado (CPA), and other states with privacy legislation:
Because The App does not collect, sell, share, or process your personal information on any system we control, the following applies:
California residents: The App does not meet the threshold for mandatory CCPA compliance (we are an individual developer with no commercial data activities), but we voluntarily commit to the same privacy standards.
The App does not collect personal information from children under the age of 13 in the United States (COPPA) or under the age of 16 in the European Union (GDPR). Since The App does not collect any personal information from any user, there is no special risk to children's privacy. However, The App is designed for adult fitness tracking and is not directed at children.
The App includes a Mature Content setting which, when enabled, allows the tracking of certain adult activities (alcohol consumption, cycle tracking, sex, for example). This setting is disabled by default and must be explicitly enabled by the user. By enabling this setting, the user confirms they are of appropriate age to access such content in their jurisdiction. Parents and guardians are encouraged to review their device's Screen Time and app restriction settings to prevent minors from accessing inappropriate content within The App.
Since all data is stored locally on your device, the security of your App data depends on your device security settings. We strongly recommend:
The App allows you to retain your data on your device for as long as the app is installed. You control your data retention entirely — you can delete individual entries, archive and remove old entries using the built-in Archive feature, or delete the app to remove all data permanently.
If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the Effective Date at the top of this document and publish the updated policy. Since The App is a privacy-first application with no data collection, significant changes to this policy are unlikely.
The App is provided as a personal fitness tracking tool for informational purposes only. It is not a medical device, and the data it records, calculates, or displays does not constitute medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
Health and Fitness DataThe activity logs, goal tracking, calorie estimates, BMI calculations, and any other health-related information displayed in The App are based solely on data you enter or import. We make no representations as to the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of this information for any particular purpose. You should not rely on The App's data to make medical or health decisions. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional before beginning or modifying any exercise program, diet, or health regimen.
No WarrantyThe App is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or free of bugs or other harmful components.
Limitation of LiabilityTo the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Carson Booth and GreyBeardGuy shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use The App, including but not limited to personal injury, data loss, or health-related outcomes, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
